PENDANT

I've been wanting to have a go at soldering for ages and finally got round to it this week.  Martin showed me how to use the soldering iron properly and here's my first attempt.  I used a piece of vintage book page, a penny red stamp and a heart punched from heated copper sheet.

POSITIVE THINKING

I've been told that the planets are in a special alignment today - and will not be in the same position for another 20 years!!!  Apparently, if you are happy and positive all day, you will be happy and positive for the next 20 years!!!

New books!

When I first started rubber stamping about 6 years ago, I loved the excitement of new unmounted sheets dropping through the letterbox - the feel, the smell, the sheer joy of having new rubber!  That feeling continues whenever I receive something new - whether it's rubber, embellishments or beads, but my favourite "must buy" has always been books - whether they're simply for eye candy or, even better, for learning new techniques.  Sometimes I think I'm a giant sponge, soaking up all the new and wondrous ideas this amazing world of art can throw at me.  I recently ordered 3 books from Amazon and have been (im)patiently waiting for them to be delivered.   I've just found out they're on their way to my ever outstretched hands -  oh the excitement, the joy, the expectation - they will soon be MINE!!!

Textile Design

My niece is a very talented textile designer and works freelance from home for a company called Yellow Label based in Macclesfield.  Her husband works for the same company as one of the sales reps - travelling as far as Japan, Korea & South Africa.   Recently two of her designs appeared in the South African magazine "Garden & Home" - I'm sooooo proud of her!
