The "Heart & Soul" collage I bought from Nancy Baumiller in her CROWABOUT Etsy shop arrived today and it's flippin' gorgeous - in fact it got me all inspired to have a go myself. It was a lot harder than I thought it would be and I can really appreciate the amount of work she put into her piece. Let me know what you think of my effort!
Here are my pages for BETH's pocket-full book - I used the nature print on copper mesh as mentioned in a previous post, some pressed stems of common cottongrass picked on Blackstone Edge (the moors above Littleborough), pictures of my garden printed on acetate and a vintage book cover for the art in the pocket.
A recent project by the Arte ed Anima group will be published in the next issue (August/September) of Somerset Memories. Needless to say, we're all over the moon with excitement!!! Here's a scan from the latest issue ...
... please sign the Petition for the South Atlantic Whale Sanctuaryto add your voice to those calling for a South Atlantic Whale
Sanctuary. Thanks to other IFAW supporters we already have
more than 35,000 signatures. Please help us reach our goal of 100,000
names in time for the next International Whaling Commission (IWC)
meeting, which starts on June 23rd, 2008, in Santiago, Chile.
A commitment to conservation
This year, Commission members will consider a proposal to create a
South Atlantic Whale Sanctuary that would extend across the South
Atlantic, from the coast of South America to the coast of Africa, and
on down towards Antarctica. The vote on the South Atlantic Whale Sanctuary provides a vital
opportunity for the IWC to show that it is committed to whale
conservation. Sign on to Save the Whales
Although commercial whaling has been banned for more than two decades,
Japan, Iceland and Norway continue to fire harpoons into these gentle
creatures. More than 30,000 whales have been killed since the 1986 ban
on commercial whaling. You can help make the world a safer place for
whales by protecting one of the largest whale habitats.
... so off I went to the bird sanctuary again! It was a youngster and I think it was ok - will post an update when available. Sure hope this doesn't continue throughout the summer ... might have to consider a collar and bell (for the cat of course).
... was doing a bit of window shopping on Etsy and couldn't resist these:
Postcards by Traci Bunkers and an original journal page by Nancy Baumiller. Aren't they gorgeous! Have always fancied doing some journalling but where do you start??? Maybe these will give me some inspiration ...
